Description: This community occurs in barrier island depressions of the Atlantic Coast of North (and possibly South) Carolina. This is a brackish, non-tidal, seasonally flooded community including the wettest parts of non-tidal ponds with brackish water from hurricane flooding, storm tides, or island overwash. Stands are dominated by Leptochloa fusca ssp. fascicularis and Sesuvium maritimum. Other characteristic species include Bacopa monnieri, Pluchea odorata var. odorata, Eleocharis parvula.
