Name: Juniperus ashei Ozark Clifftop Woodland
Reference: Southeastern Ecology Working Gro...
Description: This association includes Juniperus ashei woodlands occurring on rimrock bluffs and cliffs composed of dolomite (or possibly limestone) in the Ozark Highlands of the United States. These woodlands generally have a pure Juniperus ashei canopy with little other associated vascular flora. Lichens may be abundant on rocks and covering the ground. These woodlands are less diverse than the mixed Juniperus ashei woodlands that occur as glade complexes on less extreme sites in the Ozarks.
