Description: This association is native to Oregon's Klamath-Siskiyou region and may occur in northwestern California. Stands are found at elevations of 1160-1500 m (3800-4900 feet) on southerly aspects with moderate to gentle slopes. Soils are not well-documented except that parent material is andesite or pumice. The dominant overstory species are Pseudotsuga menziesii and Abies concolor with cover averaging 33% and 42%, respectively. The most common understory plants are Chimaphila umbellata (28%), Mahonia nervosa (= var. nervosa) (6%), Rubus ursinus (5%), and Anemone deltoidea (1%).
