Description: This Quercus alba-dominated forest occurs on steep, moist slopes, over slightly calcareous or subcalcareous substrates west of the Mississippi River. The subcanopy is characterized by high levels of Acer leucoderme and Ostrya virginiana. Diagnostic herbaceous species include Spigelia marilandica and Solidago auriculata.
