Description: This mesic alpine dwarf-shrubland is found at 2960 to 3050 m (9700-10,000 feet) elevation in the Ruby Mountains in northeastern Nevada. Sites are on gentle, northerly slopes. The vegetation forms an alpine turf that is characterized by the dominance of the dwarf-shrub Salix arctica sometimes with Salix reticulata and Caltha leptosepala, a dominant forb. Other common species include Astragalus alpinus, Carex elynoides, Erigeron peregrinus, Festuca brachyphylla, Pedicularis groenlandica, Polygonum bistortoides, and Sibbaldia procumbens.
