Name: Juniperus occidentalis / Artemisia rigida / Poa secunda Wooded Herbaceous Vegetation
Reference: Western Ecology Working Group of...
Description: In this association Juniperus occidentalis trees have low cover and are scattered across the landscape and Artemisia rigida cover ranges from 4-15% with low apparentness. However, in poor condition sites Artemisia rigida cover increases to more than 25%. Purshia tridentata occurs occasionally. Poa secunda is the dominant grass. Other common herbs include Festuca idahoensis and Pseudoroegneria spicata. On lower quality sites the non-native grass Bromus tectorum is dominant. This association occurs on substrates of lava, sedimentary and granitic origins in central and northeastern Oregon.
