Description: Communities within this alliance occur along streams in New Mexico and Arizona. Elevations range from 1350-2857 m. Landforms that support these types are typically floodplains adjacent to streams and arroyos. Soils and specific landform information was not available. Communities within this alliance are described as broad-leaved cold-deciduous, temporarily flooded shrublands. They are dominated by ~Salix irrorata$ with a total overstory cover that averaged 51%. Other codominants include ~Populus fremontii$ and ~Acer negundo$. The low-shrub component in these associations consisted of ~Rosa$ spp., ~Rubus idaeus ssp. strigosus (= Rubus strigosus), Cornus sericea$, and shrub-sized ~Acer negundo$. Common herbaceous species include ~Fragaria virginiana ssp. glauca (= Fragaria ovalis), Thalictrum fendleri$, and ~Geranium$ spp.
