Name: (Pinus palustris) / Schizachyrium scoparium - Bigelowia nuttallii / Cladonia spp. Herbaceous Vegetation
Reference: Southeastern Ecology Working Gro...
Description: This association represents Catahoula sandstone glades of western Louisiana that also rarely occur in adjacent Texas. Scattered mature Pinus palustris may be present, but the community is fundamentally dominated by herbs and nonvascular plants. The herbaceous cover is depauperate and sparse; with many patches of exposed rock, mineral soils, and Cladonia lichens. This community does not possess a strong Quercus component, although it may have scattered individuals.
