Name: Impatiens pallida - Cystopteris bulbifera - Adoxa moschatellina Herbaceous Alliance
Reference: Midwestern Ecology Working Group...
Description: This alliance, found in the midwestern United States, occurs at the bases of steep cliffs. Disjunct populations of northern species are common. The most abundant species include Adoxa moschatellina, Cornus canadensis, Circaea alpina, Cystopteris bulbifera, Impatiens pallida, Maianthemum canadense, Mertensia paniculata, and Mitella nuda. Exposed talus and boulders are common. This alliance occurs at the bases of steep, north-facing, dolomite talus slopes. Cold air drains from the fissures and ice caves and maintains cool, moist conditions. Stands of this alliance are often small.
