Description: This forest type occurs in rugged limestone topography along the Neosho River in Oklahoma (Cherokee, Muskogee, and Wagoner counties). The canopy of stands is typically dominated by Acer saccharum and Quercus muehlenbergii. A characteristic subcanopy component is Cotinus obovatus. Other typical associates are Antennaria parlinii, Carya alba, Cladrastis kentukea, Philadelphus pubescens, Quercus rubra, Staphylea trifolia, Tradescantia ozarkana, and Woodsia obtusa.
