Description: Shrublands characterized by Hamamelis vernalis, on gravelly streambanks and upper scour zones of rivers and streams in the Ouachita Mountains in western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma, and the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas and Missouri. Other characteristic species include Cephalanthus occidentalis, Physocarpus opulifolius, Cornus obliqua, Salix caroliniana, Alnus serrulata, and Leptopus phyllanthoides (= Andrachne phyllanthoides).
