Description: This Pinus echinata - Quercus stellata community occurs on dry, acid, loamy to clayey uplands in the Upper East Gulf Coastal Plain of Mississippi, and possibly elsewhere in the region. The dominant trees are Pinus echinata and Quercus stellata. In natural, or well-burned condition, few other tree species are present. The understory tends to be quite open and herb-dominated, and may be quite species-rich.
