Name: Decodon verticillatus Seasonally Flooded Shrubland Alliance
Reference: Southeastern Ecology Working Gro...
Description: This alliance contains wetland vegetation dominated by Decodon verticillatus, generally in peaty situations. Few other species are present because the Decodon is extremely dense; the only other species that are common are Cephalanthus occidentalis and possibly Itea virginica. Some examples occur in depression ponds (these at least primarily Interior Highlands), while others may be found in floodplain pools and lakeshores (e.g., the Coastal Plain and related examples).
