Description: This alliance is known from sparsely vegetated quartz sand dunes in the eastern Trans-Pecos of Texas. Known examples have sparse vegetation consisting primarily of annuals. Most abundant species include Heliotropium convolvulaceum, Psoralidium lanceolatum, Polanisia jamesii, Helianthus petiolaris, Helianthus neglectus, Panicum havardii, Chamaesyce carunculata (= Euphorbia carunculata), and Mentzelia sp. This vegetation varies a great deal from year to year, depending on moisture.
