Name: Dulichium arundinaceum Saturated Herbaceous Alliance
Reference: Eastern Ecology Working Group of...
Description: This saturated vegetation of New England and New Jersey occurs in saturated conditions of isolated basins. The vegetation is strongly dominated by Dulichium arundinaceum growing in a loosely consolidated aquatic suspension of Sphagnum cuspidatum and/or Sphagnum fallax. Associated species include Triadenum virginicum, Glyceria acutiflora, and Glyceria obtusa. The vegetation is boggy in nature, forming a quaking mat in most cases. The dominance by Dulichium arundinaceum confers a lawn appearance.
