Name: Acer negundo - Populus angustifolia / Celtis laevigata var. reticulata Forest
Reference: Carsey et al 2003b
Description: The Acer negundo-Populus angustifolia/Celtis reticulata (boxelder-narrowleaf cottonwood/netleaf hackberry) plant association is a tall (12-25 ft., 4-8 m), multi-layered deciduous forest. It is a tentatively described community known from only one location on a seep in Unaweep Canyon in Mesa County. This forest occurs in a complex wetland with several other tentatively described woody and herbaceous plant associations. The forest occurs in dense patches around several small channels fed by the seep. Along these rivulets are communities of Eleocharis palustris-Scirpus validus (creeping spikerush-softstem bulrush) and Eleocharis palustris-Phragmites australis (creeping spikerush-common reed) wet meadows. The hillside seep drains into a fast moving creek with Alnus incana/Eupatorium maculatum (thinleaf alder/Joe-Pye weed) and Salix exigua (coyote willow) riparian shrublands.
