Description: This tall graminoid vegetation occurs primarily on the sandy shores of large ponds in the North Atlantic Coast and of Lake Champlain. The dominant species is <i>Spartina pectinata</i>, sometimes to the near exclusion of other species. Associates, when they do occur, may include <i>Euthamia caroliniana (= Euthamia tenuifolia), Lycopus</i> spp., and <i>Eleocharis</i> spp. One occurrence on Lake Champlain is codominated by <i>Ammophila breviligulata</i>.
