Description: A rare community unique to xeric paleodunes (Evesboro Soils) on Maurice River terraces. Dominant trees include various combinations of <i>Quercus falcata, Quercus alba, Quercus velutina</i>, and <i>Quercus stellata</i>, with smaller amounts of <i>Sassafras albidum, Carya alba</i>, and <i>Pinus rigida</i>. Low shrubs occurring in small patches include <i>Gaylussacia baccata</i> and <i>Vaccinium pallidum</i>, while taller shrubs in small patches or as scattered individuals include <i>Quercus ilicifolia, Quercus prinoides, Quercus stellata, Gaylussacia frondosa, Carya pallida</i>, and rarely <i>Cornus florida</i>. <i>Smilax glauca</i> also occurs as scattered individuals. <i>Carex pensylvanica</i> forms a widespread herb stratum with 50-75% cover. Other herbs include <i>Cladina subtenuis</i> and <i>Schizachyrium scoparium</i>.
