Description: This pitch pine lowland community is restricted to the New Jersey Pine Barrens. This association is described as hydric, with a saturated hydrology. The open canopy is dominated by <i>Pinus rigida</i>, with <i>Acer rubrum, Nyssa sylvatica</i>, and <i>Amelanchier arborea</i> being infrequent associates. The shrub layer may be quite dense and is characterized by <i>Vaccinium corymbosum, Leucothoe racemosa, Gaylussacia frondosa, Gaylussacia baccata, Kalmia angustifolia</i>, and <i>Ilex glabra</i>.
