Description: This association is found along the San Francisco River near Luna Lake in southwestern New Mexico. This type is know to form dense stands along streambanks at elevations around 2270 m (7450 feet). Sites are probably flooded on a annual basis and have wet, rocky soils (reported as loamy-skeletal Typic Fluvaquents). <i>Salix irrorata</i> is very abundant to luxuriant, and other shrubs are few and scattered. The understory is characterized by an abundant to luxuriant growth of wetland graminoids with <i>Eleocharis palustris</i> as the dominant in association with <i>Carex aquatilis, Carex stipata, Glyceria grandis, Glyceria striata, Juncus balticus, Juncus saximontanus, Schoenoplectus tabernaemontani (= Scirpus tabernaemontani), Beckmannia syzigachne</i>, and <i>Agrostis stolonifera</i>. Common wetland indicators recorded for the type are <i>Equisetum arvense, Argentina anserina, Cicuta douglasii</i>, and <i>Epilobium ciliatum</i>.
