Description: This mixed-conifer/hardwood association occurs locally in southern Oregon and possibly northern California. Elevations range from 760-1220 m (2500-4000 feet). Soils are well-drained sandy loams, sandy clay loams, and silt loams underlain by granitic, dioritic, or sandstone parent material. The dominant overstory trees are <i>Pseudotsuga menziesii, Pinus lambertiana</i>, and <i>Chamaecyparis lawsoniana</i> with 35%, 14%, and 25% cover, respectively. Understory trees include <i>Tsuga heterophylla</i> (5%), <i>Abies concolor</i> (5%), and <i>Chamaecyparis lawsoniana</i> (5%). Important shrubs are <i>Quercus sadleriana</i> (33%), Gaultheria shallon (51%), and <i>Rhododendron macrophyllum</i> (32%). Typical herbs are <i>Linnaea borealis</i> (10%) and <i>Chimaphila menziesii</i> (1%).
