Description: In Colorado, this tall riparian shrubland is often found within a mosaic of several other riparian communities. Stands are generally in small patches on large floodplain ecosystems and are more or less confined to the low montane belt (1525-2440 m). The deciduous shrub canopy is dominated by <i>Salix lucida ssp. caudata</i>. Information on understory vegetation and on stands that occur outside Colorado will be added later.
