Description: This is a minor plant association with a widespread distribution including mid to upper elevations throughout the Rocky Mountains. The association is found in meadows, on lower toeslopes, and on benches or terraces in broad valley bottoms. <i>Salix wolfii</i> creates a dense, low overstory with <i>Dasiphora fruticosa ssp. floribunda (= Potentilla fruticosa)</i> frequently present. <i>Deschampsia caespitosa</i> is the diagnostic graminoid with up to 10% cover. A diverse mix of other graminoids and forbs are usually present, including <i>Juncus balticus, Danthonia intermedia, Phleum alpinum, Potentilla gracilis</i>, and <i>Senecio integerrimus</i>.
