Description: From Christy (2004): Habitat is shallow lakes, ponds, and sloughs. <i>Sparganium eurycarpum</i> forms nearly monotypic emergent stands with most of the space between plants occupied by litter or open water. <i>Sparganium</i> has an average cover of 34% and ranges from 20-45% cover. No other vegetation is reported here except for <i>Cicuta douglasii</i>, but almost any common emergent species could be present in small amounts.
