Description: This plant association occurs on gently to moderately sloping stream terraces at elevations between 1500 and 2000 m. The overstory is usually dominated by <i>Populus angustifolia</i> with occasional codominance by <i>Acer negundo</i>. <i>Acer grandidentatum</i> creates a low tree layer. Shrubs are typically sparse and may include <i>Mahonia repens, Paxistima myrsinites</i>, or <i>Symphoricarpos oreophilus</i>. Herbaceous cover is variable and common species include <i>Osmorhiza berteroi (= Osmorhiza chilensis), Maianthemum stellatum (= Smilacina stellata), Elymus glaucus</i>, and the exotic grass <i>Poa pratensis</i>.
