Description: From Muldavin et al. (2000b): This minor type is known from the northern Jornada del Muerto and northern Tularosa basins at elevations ranging from 1430 to 1460 m (4700-4800 feet). This grassland is composed of a uniform, luxuriant cover of <i>Pleuraphis mutica (= Hilaria mutica)</i> to the near exclusion of other species. <i>Sporobolus airoides</i> is a common associate, but seldom exceeds 5% cover. Shrubs are insignificant, and forb diversity is low (10 species).
