Name: Potamogeton foliosus Herbaceous Vegetation
Reference: Western Ecology Working Group of...
Description: This herbaceous marsh association is currently known from Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in Colorado, and the following description is based on occurrences there. Additional global information will be added as it becomes available. This association is known from a flat valley floor at 2300 m elevation. The site is permanently flooded with very poorly drained muck soils. Ground surface cover is 99% standing water. There is evidence that ungulates use this area as a water source. Herbaceous vegetation cover ranges from 65-75%, with the large majority of the cover dominated by Potamogeton foliosus with trace amounts of Alisma gramineum.
