Description: This woodland association is currently only known from Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in Colorado, and the following description is based on occurrences there. Additional information will be added as it becomes available. This association is documented from a colluvial slope at 3364 m in elevation. The site faces south-southwest and has a slope of 21°. Litter and duff cover about half of the ground, with small rocks and bare soil splitting the other half. Soil is a well-drained loamy sand. <i>Pinus aristata</i> grows in a nearly pure stand with trace amounts of <i>Picea engelmannii</i> and <i>Populus tremuloides</i>. <i>Vaccinium myrtillus</i> forms a dwarf-shrub layer of 20% cover. <i>Juniperus communis</i> and <i>Dasiphora fruticosa ssp. floribunda (= Dasiphora floribunda)</i> are present as short shrubs with &lt;5% cover. Herbaceous species include <i>Festuca thurberi, Fragaria virginiana</i>, and <i>Lupinus argenteus</i>.
