Name: Rhodiola integrifolia - Selaginella watsonii Herbaceous Vegetation
Reference: Western Ecology Working Group of...
Description: This herbaceous association is currently only known from Yosemite National Park in California, and the following description is based on occurrences there. Additional information will be added as it becomes available. The site of this association is at 3350 m (11,000 feet) elevation on a moderate, north-facing slope. The site is a stony toeslope, and the soil is moderately well-drained loam. This sparse alpine herbaceous association is dominated by Antennaria media, Potentilla drummondii, and Rhodiola integrifolia (= Sedum integrifolium), each with 15% cover. The diagnostic forbs are Rhodiola integrifolia and Selaginella watsonii. Other common forb associates may include Penstemon rydbergii var. oreocharis and traces of Arenaria kingii, Castilleja nana, Cistanthe umbellata, Eriogonum ovalifolium, and/or Lupinus sellulus ssp. sellulus. The graminoid cover is low, totaling only about 5%. Graminoid associates may include Carex exserta, Carex specifica, Festuca saximontana, Juncus parryi, and/or Poa secunda.
