Name: Fouquieria splendens / Bouteloua curtipendula Shrubland
Reference: Western Ecology Working Group of...
Description: From Muldavin et al. (2000b): On White Sands Missile Range this Chihuahuan Desert grassland community is known from the San Andres and San Augustine mountains. It occurs on moderate to steep slopes at elevations of 1542 to 1716 m (5060-5630 feet). Bouteloua curtipendula is the clear dominant among the 20 grass species recorded for the association, and it is well-represented to abundant. Fouquieria splendens is the conspicuous indicator of the rocky sites this association occurs on, but the Chihuahuan Desert indicators Dasylirion wheeleri, Parthenium incanum, and Aloysia wrightii are also common.
