Description: Stands are dominated by <i>Gleditsia triacanthos</i> and <i>Juglans nigra</i>. They may originate on lands that were formerly pastures or orchards. The ground layer is typically dominated by introduced grasses, including <i>Bromus secalinus</i> and <i>Poa pratensis</i>. Other trees that may be present include <i>Prunus munsoniana, Acer negundo, Juniperus virginiana, Ulmus alata, Ulmus americana, Diospyros virginiana</i>, and the exotic <i>Ailanthus altissima</i>. Other herbs include <i>Ageratina altissima, Dicliptera brachiata, Elephantopus carolinianus, Elymus macgregorii, Helianthus tuberosus, Verbesina alternifolia, Verbesina virginica</i>, and <i>Smallanthus uvedalius</i>. Some stands have high cover of the exotic <i>Lolium arundinaceum</i>. Vines include <i>Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Cocculus carolinus</i>, and <i>Vitis aestivalis</i>. Other exotic species may include <i>Lonicera japonica, Conium maculatum</i>, and <i>Torilis arvensis</i>.
