Description: This is a tidal forest of the Atlantic Coastal Plain of North Carolina dominated by <i>Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Ulmus americana, Acer rubrum var. trilobum</i>, and including <i>Persea palustris</i> and <i>Pinus taeda</i>. The subcanopy is dominated by <i>Persea palustris</i> and canopy species. The shrub layer is dominated by <i>Morella cerifera (= Myrica cerifera), Juniperus virginiana var. silicicola, Baccharis halimifolia</i>, and <i>Toxicodendron radicans ssp. radicans</i>. This community occurs in a repeating and predictable pattern in upper reaches of tidal streams in the Coastal Plain of North Carolina.
