Description: This is an open-canopy forest found near the southern terminus of the Ridge and Valley in Alabama. Stands are dominated by <i>Quercus prinus</i> with a significant component of <i>Pinus palustris</i> present. Stands are found on north- and northwest-facing slopes adjacent to dry or xeric ridgetops dominated by more pure stands of longleaf pine.
