Description: This community occurs on interdune flats in a gypsum dune landscape. The very sparse shrub layer consists of <i>Yucca elata</i> and <i>Artemisia filifolia</i>. The sparse to dense dwarf-shrub layer is dominated by <i>Tiquilia hispidissima</i>, and also includes <i>Krameria lanceolata, Ephedra torreyana</i>, and <i>Nama carnosum</i>. The sparse to dense herb layer includes <i>Bouteloua breviseta, Bouteloua trifida, Mentzelia humilis, Thelesperma megapotamicum, Nerisyrenia linearifolia, Sartwellia flaveriae</i>, and other species, many of them gypsophiles or gypsum endemics.
