Name: Spondias mombin - Roystonea elata - Guazuma ulmifolia Forest
Reference: Southeastern Ecology Working Gro...
Description: Successional association established following disturbance of the former Guazuma ulmifolia - Ceiba pentandra - Roystonea elata seasonal evergreen forest in Cuba, mostly by selective cutting of trees for timber. The original association's species composition and coverage change by prevalence, under-representation, or absence of many of its associates. Different species combinations are recognizable due to different human interference. Most common species usually include Spondias mombin, Roystonea elata (= Roystonea regia), Guazuma ulmifolia, Ceiba pentandra, Oxandra lanceolata, Crescentia cujete, Pithecellobium cubense, Samanea saman, Cecropia shreberiana, Cordia collococca, Nectandra coriacea, Bursera simaruba, Allophylus cominia, Drypetes alba, Guettarda combsii, Ficus spp., Eugenia spp., and others.
