Description:
This community includes glades over diabase in north-central North Carolina. Abundant species are <i>Diodia teres, Croton willdenowii, Sporobolus vaginiflorus var. ozarkanus (= Sporobolus ozarkanus)</i>, and <i>Talinum</i> spp. Characteristic species include <i>Isanthus brachiatus (= Trichostema brachiatum), Sporobolus clandestinus, Sporobolus vaginiflorus var. ozarkanus, Portulaca smallii, Polygonum tenue, Symphyotrichum parviceps (= Aster parviceps), Talinum teretifolium, Talinum mengesii</i>?, <i>Ruellia humilis, Cyperus granitophilus, Bulbostylis capillaris, Commelina erecta var. erecta</i>, and <i>Manfreda virginica</i>. Some additional herbs include <i>Packera anonyma, Matelea decipiens, Lithospermum canescens, Piptochaetium avenaceum, Erigeron strigosus, Schizachyrium scoparium, Blephilia ciliata</i>, and <i>Sisyrinchium</i> sp. Wetter areas have <i>Zephyranthes atamasca</i>. Some shrubs which are present on the margins include <i>Symphoricarpos orbiculatus, Rhus aromatica, Ulmus alata, Celtis tenuifolia, Viburnum rafinesquianum, Hypericum hypericoides</i>, and <i>Vitis rotundifolia</i>.
