Description: This dry to dry-mesic <i>Pinus palustris</i> woodland of the inner Atlantic Coastal Plain occurs on yellow sand soils with some silt fraction in southern South Carolina and Georgia. Stands are dominated by <i>Pinus palustris</i> with an understory containing <i>Quercus laevis</i>. Other trees present include <i>Quercus falcata, Quercus incana, Quercus laevis, Quercus margarettiae</i>, and <i>Quercus marilandica var. marilandica</i>. One characteristic low shrub is <i>Gaylussacia dumosa (= var. dumosa)</i>. Some characteristic herbaceous plants include <i>Aristida beyrichiana</i> and <i>Helianthus atrorubens</i>.
