Description: This community occupies peaty depressions or poorly developed flowages in Florida. <i>Osmunda regalis var. spectabilis</i> is the strong dominant, hummocks forming 2-7 dm tall. Other characteristic species include <i>Peltandra virginica, Sagittaria lancifolia, Woodwardia virginica, Saururus cernuus</i>, and <i>Cladium mariscus ssp. jamaicense</i>. Scattered shrubs occur, rooting primarily on <i>Osmunda</i> hummocks; these include <i>Acer rubrum var. trilobum, Itea virginica, Morella cerifera (= Myrica cerifera var. cerifera)</i>, and the woody vine <i>Smilax laurifolia</i>.
