Description: This plant association comprises small ravine-bottom seepage-fed bayheads of the western part of the East Gulf Coastal Plain. The canopy is dominated by <i>Magnolia virginiana, Nyssa biflora, Magnolia grandiflora</i>, and <i>Liriodendron tulipifera</i>. The shrub stratum is dominated by <i>Ilex coriacea</i> and <i>Viburnum nudum var. nudum</i>, and also contains <i>Persea palustris, Illicium floridanum, Morella cerifera (= Myrica cerifera), Morella caroliniensis (= Myrica heterophylla), Leucothoe racemosa, Lyonia lucida</i>, and <i>Itea virginica</i>. Principal herbs are <i>Solidago patula var. strictula (= Solidago salicina), Woodwardia areolata, Osmunda cinnamomea, Viola x primulifolia</i>, and <i>Carex leptalea</i>. Other herbs may include <i>Carex lurida</i> and <i>Peltandra sagittifolia</i>. <i>Sphagnum</i> sp. may be abundant.
