Description: This buttonbush pond type occurs in limestone-edged sinkholes 4-5 m deep relative to the surrounding land surface, in limestone valleys and plateaus of the Moulton Valley Region of northern Alabama. <i>Cephalanthus occidentalis</i> dominates, but other zonal dominants include <i>Salix nigra</i> and stunted <i>Quercus lyrata</i>.
