Name: Decodon verticillatus Seasonally Flooded Shrubland Reference: Southeastern Ecology Working Gro... Description: This swamp-loosestrife pond association is found in the southeastern United States from North Carolina south to Florida, east to Alabama, and north to Kentucky and possibly Indiana. The wetland vegetation is dominated by <i>Decodon verticillatus</i>, typically in peaty backwater or depression situations. Few other species are present because the <i>Decodon</i> is extremely dense; typically the only other woody species that are common are <i>Cephalanthus occidentalis</i> and possibly <i>Itea virginica</i>. Some examples occur in depression ponds (these at least primarily Interior Highlands), while others may be found in floodplain pools and lakeshores (e.g., the Coastal Plain and related examples).  Accession Code: VB.CC.36074.CEGL003905 Plot-observations of this Community Concept: 0
