Description: This sand sagebrush type is found in the southern Great Plains of the United States. Stands occur on sandy, rolling hills. Soils are loamy fine sand to sands, excessively drained, and formed in loamy or sandy eolian sediments. The vegetation structure is 0.5-1 m tall-shrub layer. The dominant shrub is <i>Artemisia filifolia</i>, with <i>Yucca glauca</i> an occasional associate. Dominant graminoids are medium tall and include <i>Andropogon hallii</i> and <i>Schizachyrium scoparium</i>. Other associates include <i>Bouteloua curtipendula, Calamovilfa gigantea, Cyperus schweinitzii</i>, and <i>Paspalum setaceum</i>. Herbs include <i>Eriogonum annuum, Helianthus petiolaris</i>, and <i>Grindelia papposa (= Prionopsis ciliata)</i>.
