Description:
This association is comprised of improved pastures dominated by <i>Cynodon dactylon</i>, with varying degrees of native composition remaining, on a wide variety of soils and sites. It is currently reported from Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, and possibly other states, primarily in the Southeastern Coastal Plain, but also in other ecoregions. Vegetation is dominated by the introduced grass <i>Cynodon dactylon</i>, with various remnant native species. Although originally planted, <i>Cynodon dactylon</i> maintains itself spontaneously and is considered weedy or "semi-natural" as opposed to cultivated. Examples from Florida may include the native species <i>Eupatorium capillifolium, Helianthemum carolinianum, Heterotheca subaxillaris, Lechea sessiliflora, Nuttallanthus canadensis, Oenothera laciniata</i>, and <i>Solidago odora var. chapmanii</i>, among others. In addition, <i>Juniperus virginiana var. silicicola, Prunus serotina, Quercus hemisphaerica</i>, and <i>Quercus virginiana</i>, may be present as a sparse tree layer, and a very sparse shrub layer may that include <i>Baccharis halimifolia, Ilex vomitoria, Persea borbonia, Prunus angustifolia, Rubus trivialis, Sabal palmetto</i>, and <i>Sideroxylon tenax</i>. Vines may include <i>Smilax auriculata</i> and <i>Vitis rotundifolia</i>. Stands in Oklahoma may contain <i>Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Amphiachyris dracunculoides</i>, and <i>Melilotus albus</i>.
