Description:
This forest association is known only from floodplains of infrequently flooded, calcareous, small streams overlying the Jackson Formation in western Louisiana and eastern Texas. Canopy dominants include <i>Celtis laevigata, Gleditsia triacanthos, Sapindus saponaria var. drummondii, Carya myristiciformis, Ulmus crassifolia, Fraxinus americana</i>, and <i>Pinus taeda</i>. The subcanopy consists of <i>Acer barbatum, Asimina triloba, Ilex decidua, Cornus drummondii</i>, and canopy species. The open shrub and woody vine layer contains <i>Viburnum rufidulum, Toxicodendron radicans, Smilax</i> spp., <i>Parthenocissus quinquefolia</i>, and <i>Cocculus carolinus</i>. The dense herb layer includes <i>Carex willdenowii, Carex cherokeensis, Lithospermum tuberosum, Arnoglossum plantagineum, Nothoscordum bivalve, Sanicula canadensis, Arisaema dracontium, Melica mutica, Geum canadense, Viola</i> spp., and <i>Carex</i> spp.
