Description: This community consists of relatively shallow flatwoods ponds, or shallow portions of deeper ponds, of the West Gulf Coastal Plain. The most abundant herbaceous species are generally <i>Aristida palustris, Panicum virgatum, Eriocaulon decangulare var. decangulare, Centella erecta, Rhynchospora elliottii, Arnoglossum ovatum, Sabatia campanulata</i>, and <i>Scleria georgiana</i>. Scattered trees, especially <i>Nyssa biflora</i>, can occur, though ponds are usually treeless.
