Description: This community is reported in the southern Great Plains of the United States. Stands are described as a mixedgrass prairie type, with a scattered tree layer. The dominant tree species is <i>Juniperus virginiana</i>. Dominant grasses include <i>Schizachyrium scoparium</i> and <i>Bouteloua curtipendula</i>. This type may be essentially synonymous with a mixedgrass prairie type, the ~<i>Schizachyrium scoparium - Bouteloua curtipendula</i> Red Hills Herbaceous Vegetation (CEGL002248)$$. Further review is needed to determine the characteristics of this type.
