Description: This shrubland association occurs on somewhat steep northeast- and southeast-facing slopes at low elevations between 226 and 408 m. It is characterized by <i>Ceanothus cuneatus</i> as the dominant shrub with about half as much cover provided by <i>Quercus berberidifolia</i>. As with many chaparral associations the herbaceous layer is relatively insignificant in mature stands. The emergent tree layer includes <i>Quercus agrifolia</i> and occasional small trees of <i>Fraxinus dipetala</i>.
