Description: This shrubland association occurs on somewhat steep to steep southeast- and southwest-facing slopes at low elevations between 231 and 527 m. It is characterized by the codominance of <i>Artemisia californica, Eriogonum fasciculatum</i>, and <i>Salvia leucophylla</i> in the shrub layer. The herbaceous layer is not well-developed. The emergent tree layer is generally absent but can include <i>Quercus agrifolia</i>.
