Description: This shrubland association occurs on somewhat steep to steep northwest- and northeast-facing slopes at low elevations between 0 and 719 m. It is characterized by a strong dominance of <i>Toxicodendron diversilobum</i> and a presence of <i>Artemisia californica</i> in the shrub layer. The herbaceous layer is characterized by relatively high cover of <i>Leymus condensatus</i>. The emergent tree layer may include <i>Juglans californica</i> and <i>Quercus agrifolia</i>.
