Description: This shrubland association occurs on somewhat steep to steep slopes of variable aspect at low to mid elevations between 17 and 821 m. It is dominated by both <i>Adenostoma fasciculatum</i> and <i>Ceanothus crassifolius</i> in the shrub layer, although <i>Ceanothus crassifolius</i> has typically somewhat higher cover. The herbaceous layer is sparse except for occasional vines of <i>Marah macrocarpus</i>, which may sprawl over the shrubs. Trees are generally absent.
